Team Fortress 2 Medigun work in progress by Laridian Team Fortress 2 Medigun work in progress by Laridian
Following photos at cosplay.com, I'm putting together a medigun for my Medic for TF2 cosplay.

This is a WIP photo.  There are more accurate replicas made out of cardboard and foam, but this looked easier.  It's heavy though.  In theory you can recharge it, but I've read that the power doesn't last long for the payoff.

Still needs to be painted and I have to glue the black piece at the end for greater stability (right now it's in "check for fit" mode).  I also have to connect the hose from the back of the gun to the backpack, which will be challenging since the backpack is made of cardboard and foam.

I might add some cosmetic bits on as well.  Not sure yet.

Ah, I'm going to make a Medigun using that light too. The only thing that has stopped me (other than lack of time as of late) has been trying to figure out which pieces that I need for the front.
Would you be able to give me the names/sizes/part numbers or whatever for the following pieces, please?

The small connector piece right right on the front of the light
The small connector piece on the muzzle (Looks threaded?)
And finally the black muzzle piece itself

I've got all the other pieces, I just need those three to finish it.
Any info that you could share would be greatly appreciated!

Nice job on yours! :D

All the white pieces and the black rubber part came out of the plumbing section of Lowe's. They don't have part numbers, they're 3" PVC connector pieces. If you take the picture with you, you should be able to match them up easily.

The black rubber part also has no part number. It came with a metal band around the narrow end, which I removed.

Hope that helps! Good luck and thank you!

Nein!  You must EARN your medigun!

Seriously, when it's done I'll put up more about it :)  And it really isn't that hard once you know what to look for.

Don't forget the black tape on the pipe at the front, after you've painted it. =3

Wow! This looks great! I hope to make a Medic cosplay myself someday, though I doubt I can make a Medigun that will look as great as this. Still, it would be so much fun! Oh, is that a torch? Do you have a red lense over it so it shines red out of the nozzle?! That would be awesome!

Well of course! :P

I play BLU, so it would have to be a blue lens, but yes, I'm considering it. :)  It's good I haven't finished it yet since I've already thought of something I want to change. (Of course!)

It actually assembled much easier than I thought it would.  But it's got some weight to it, I won't deny it.

OH! Awesome, another BLU Medic! 8D

Oooh~ Easy huh? Sweet! But what is the torch? I don't think there any like that over here, so if I ever did make a medigun, I would have to make that bit by hand. >.<

It's a Black & Decker spotlight model VEC157BD I got at Walmart. (US) But with the model number, you ought to be able to do a visual search for one that comes close!

Ah, Walmart. Yeah, we don't have Walmart here. But thank you for the model! =3
Good luck with your Medigun! It really does look amazing, even incomplete. ;D You'll have such an awesome Medic cosplay.

xD A mini-medigun! Awww~
I hope the ubersaw is lighter. It may be hard to cosplay if all your props are Heavy. <.< Heavy. Heheh~ Medics carry Heavy all the time. =P

The ubersaw should be mostly cardboard and foam, much easier to carry around.  Like my bonesaw.

And lol yes, Medics are always carrying Heavies! :P

Huh. Interesting. I look forward to seeing the final product! Are you going to colour the light? (I'm guessing that's a giant flashlight in there?)

The main body is a spotlight.  In theory I could color it... in practice, it's rechargable but doesn't carry a charge for long.  I don't know yet.  I may put a color lens on it just to have it "ready" in case.

Sure!  Most of the pieces are 3" PVC pipe.  The red & black part is a Black & Decker spotlight model VEC157BD I got at Walmart.  The black rubber cap on the end and all the PVC parts came from Lowe's.  You do need ABS cement for this to get a good hold, hot glue won't do it.  That's the black stuff that looks like paint on the white PVC.

This is heavy, but it should be more robust than a cardboard/foam one like I was originally planning.  I might get really fancy and try putting in an LED at the end, but we'll see. ;)

No worries.  In fact, I'm looking to put together a tutorial, that should help a lot of people.

I've only cosplayed Medic but I've put together Scout and Engineer outfits too, including making the wrench.

Looks good :)

Will this become the default Medi Gun, or the Kritzkrieg? They both look almost identical except for the pipe bit, so you could go either way :P
